In the realm of entrepreneurial pursuits, the parallels between my journey as an entrepreneurial-minded individual and the Challenge Based Learning (CBL) framework are striking. Both hinge on a shared skill set, encompassing problem-solving, risk-taking, and creativity, essential for navigating the complexities of the 21st century. Finn Stüwe - a German student - shares his experience as he embarks on the dynamic path of entrepreneurship, recognises the symbiotic relationship between honing these skills and the principles of CBL, fostering a continuous process of growth, learning, and innovative thinking
"Entrepreneurial individuals and the Challenge Based Learning framework share a common set of skills, such as problem-solving, risk-taking, and creativity. Both require identifying challenges and finding innovative solutions. The framework provides a platform for developing in-depth knowledge, 21st-century skills, and sustainable solutions to local and global challenges. By combining these approaches, we can cultivate a new generation of problem-solvers and innovators equipped to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.
As an entrepreneurial-minded individual, I want to manifest a strong set of skills that are closely aligned with the principles of Challenge Based Learning, in general. I know the value of being able to identify challenges and find innovative solutions that lead to success.
I would love to claim that I am a natural problem-solver who is not afraid to take risks and try new things. However, this is only half the truth. The other half is that the path I am traveling is littered with challenges and obstacles, constantly. Just as I think I have conquered the biggest challenge, the next one awaits around the corner. Just as I think I have learned everything there is to learn concerning a challenge, I learn more. Because the next challenge is just around the corner, there is always new stuff to learn. This is where I make progress. It really is a life-long process. Similarly, Challenge Based Learning (CBL) uses this mechanism of trial and error to induce an internal motivation for learning. The CBL framework allows us learners to develop the same skills through collaboration, experimentation, and the pursuit of creative solutions to complex challenges.
By identifying big ideas, asking good questions, and discovering and solving challenges, we gain in-depth subject area knowledge, develop 21st-century skills, and share our thoughts with the world. These are all essential components of successful entrepreneurship and are critical to achieving long-term success in any industry or endeavor.
For those who seek to make a positive impact on the world by creating products or services that address real-world problems, CBL is a practical approach to learning. As a self-directed learner, I am constantly seeking new ways to improve my skills and grow my knowledge, and quite frankly present these skills to the world. The methodology of CBL provides an ideal approach for achieving my goals, allowing me to collaborate with others and develop creative solutions to complex challenges.
Overall, I can confidently say that the CBL goes hand in hand with achieving my goals in life. It requires a willingness to take risks, think creatively, and pursue innovative solutions to complex challenges, either in a macro- or micro-environment. By combining these values, we can develop a new generation of problem-solvers and innovators who are equipped to tackle the challenges of the 21st century."
